iFleet fuel kidney recirculating filtration systems for fuel bowsers and genset
The iFleet ‘fuel kidney recycle systems “ comprise semi-bulk and bulk fuel-cleaning systems, customised and specialised , for semi-bulk and bulk fuel storage tanks under or above the ground, and in bulk storage tanks and genset tanks.
Why fit an iFleet “kidney recirculating system”?
Diesel fuel starts deteriorating once it has been produced. Within 30 days after it goes through the refining process, diesel fuel undergoes oxidation. In the oxidation process, varnishes and gums are formed, triggering the lengthening and bonding of the molecules of the fuel.
Even if the best quality fuel is used, it will become contaminated if not handled and stored properly.
Contamination with moisture, rain water leaking into drums, condensation forming inside the fuel tanks, dust and
dirt (improper storage in dusty areas), use of contaminated fuel transfer pumps, hoses, tanks, or mixing with other
fluids such as lubricants must be prevented. It naturally forms sediments, solids and tank sludge.

Reducing contamination by eliminating the various points of contamination can drastically reduce fuel deterioration.
Fungus, yeast and bacteria are normally treated with good housekeeping practices and in severe
cases with anti-bacterial agents.
It is important to understand the nature of the sediment one is dealing with in order to treat the root cause.
It is the hard, abrasive metallic and silica type particles that cause injector wear damage.
This entire deteriorating process can be substantially restricted and decelerated by reducing contaminants (water and particle), by fitting effective air breathers and kidney recirculating systems to the fuel bouser, especially where the diesel drop during filling of the tanks aren’t filtered
Fact:
A spin-on filter with fibre or synthetic media has limited dirtholding capacity and this type of filter media rips/breaks with surges, also if an inadequate air breather is not providing adequate cleanliness levels. If budget constraints exist or where there are small fuel volumes, fit iFleet ceramic spin-on and iFleet air breathers. Cleanliness levels will improve substantially.
iFleet is a premium system, offering the following unique advantages in the market:
- Ceramic filter media setting new standards in diesel sustainable cleanliness levels and separating clogging of hydrocarbons and therefore reversing the natural deterioration process.
- A coalesce water filter with fully automatic water draining capability.
- Ceramic air breathers prevent contamination (water and particle) from entering the fuel tanks.
- Low maintenance and unequivelent low running costs.
iFleet “kidney recirculating system “ is highly cost effective with sustainable cleanliness levels
Eliminates the need to ever replace water cartridges as it utilizes effective coalescing .Utilizes ceramic depth media cartridges for contamination with fast dirtholding capacity and total media integrity. Not a water -wax based absorption media whose efficiency deteriorates as it reaches saturation. or which is diversely affected by dirt contamination resulting in a direct drop in efficiency.
Being a depth media of micron level it separates hydrocarbon clots and thereby reverses the natural deterioration process (agglomerations) by physically splitting all the clots as the diesel deteriorates, resulting in improved oxidization of the fuel and improving the combustion process.

iFleet ” kidney recirculating system “
- Timer set as per site requirements, with battery back-up.
- Self-priming single-phase pump.
- Designed to work totally independently by automatically recycling the fuel at predetermined intervals.
- Water contamination is removed by coalesce water separator and drained automatically.
- Removal of particle contamination at micron levels by using ceramic depth filtration and in the coalesce separator.
- Reversing fuel deterioration by reversing the natural deterioration process (agglomerations) by physical ceramic depth filtration.
- Removing the bacteria and algae cells physically- as neither biocides nor magnets deal with the physical cell debris, but only deal with subsistence (having this problem is a clear indication that fuel is stored incorrectly, address the cause not the symptoms).
- Easy installation, low maintenance, cost effective and totally self –contained, ie. stand alone.
iFleet “kidney recirculating system consists of the following:
- iFleet- Automated pressure & coalesce water separator / filtration
- Benefits :
- Highly effective water removal
- Eliminates monthly cartridge replacements
- Water is drained automatically with iFleet technology and no operator intervention is required
- Removes large contaminants and particles, due to most of the solid contaminants and water settling into
the bowl's quiet zone
- Not a water -wax based absorption media whose efficiency deteriorates as it reaches saturation,
or that is diversely affected by dirt contamination, causing a direct drop in efficiency
iFleet -Depth ceramic filter media
- Benefits:
- Filter contamination to micron level through depth media
- Sustainable cleanliness levels due to ceramic filter integrity
- High dirt holding capacity -cost effective
- Reversing the fuel deterioration by reversing the natural deterioration process (agglomerations) by
physical ceramic depth filtration
iFleet -Fuel dosing system for automatically adding additional biocides
- Benefits:
- Inhibits algae and bacteria growth before they are an infestation problem.
- Automatically doses at any predetermined rate
- Efficiently inhibits and prevents the initial growth of most types of algae and
bacteria in fuel. If algae and bacteria already exist, they are a problem, and no biocide or magnetic fuel
conditioning is going to magically make the physical bacterial agglomeration cell matter disappear - they
are going to effect filters
- We use the exact same biocides as Fuel refineries
iFleet - Ceramic air breathers
- Benefits:
- Prevents water and particle contamination from entering through air breathers. Directly benefits fuel
lubricity and inhibits algae and bacterial growth as well as metal contamination due to rust in tank.
Power Generators (Genset’s)
Diesel is stored for lengthy periods due to the infrequent use of gensets. The problem is that there is no notice or indefinite time to start a generator. The correct design and environment is extremely important to be proactive and much can be done to prevent a lot of hardship.
- Close air breathers to avoid contamination (water & particle) see iFleet ceramic air breathers.
-Ensure no contamination – ie., free water or particle contamination in the diesel at any time. Filter the fuel regularly through the“kidney recycles system”.
- Start a genset on regular intervals. Engines need to run on a regular basis to maintain internal efficiency.
Only genset’s that are maintained and have “optimal-quality” diesel will start in emergency situations.
Fuel tank – long distance into Africa & 2200-litre gravity feed tanks
Mobile units available to clean fuel tanks during truck service.
Repeated exposure to the heat and pressure of engine systems significantly accelerates the breakdown of fuel quality and the dirt accumulated inside due to lack of ineffective or no upstream filtration from fuelling points
Note: Fit iFleet air ceramic fuel tank breather- prevents contamination from entering the fuel tank, a major preventable contamination point.
2200 –litre gravity feed tanks – High point of Contamination
Close the tank’s air breathers and filter the fuel upon dispensing through an iFleet ceramic spin-on filter.
A large range of small-motorized pumps (battery size 12-24 v or use main power) can be used to facilitate flow pressure rates and some are even fitted with gauges to verify the quantity of fuel dispensed for improved fuel records.
Tanks should also periodically be cleaned through a kidney system or before they are redeployed to new sites.
